MacOS 7.5 in Fusion/Shapeshifter - what we have now, seems real nice. Other idea is minimal "Backward Rosetta" (emulating a low end PPC Mac)Gunnar mentioned as Vamp goal to run up to MacOS 9 emulated. Mac seems to bring most "pro" software to the house and some nice games. Macs also look like quite generic 68k machines so I assume it would be less husle then supporting Atari modes. Not that I mind Fusion or Shapeshifter - but I assume it would bring some speed. Since Macintosh repository hold all 68k Mac ROMs I wonder could these be adopted (or some similar tool) to really run a native MacOS 8.1 on Vampire. There are no traces of today active community. There is some history prereservation stuff. Seems they have all gone PPC and then Intel. * Configure network interface in Shapi (need to be SANA-II driver) ICab 2.99 running on ShapeShifter with MacOS 7.5.5 and 8.1 (v2.9.9 was the last one for 68k)Įdit: Just noticed Simo had already posted link to this browser.īut any tests? Is it working properly? Speed? Compatibility with modern web sites? I believe the default browser at that time was actually Internet Explorer (5?) but alternative browsers are still available for download such as the iCab brower. I wonder if some Macintosh Quadra 630 enthusiasts would want a 68080 board in their Macs -)ĭid anyone try to use a web browser under Mac OS8.1 (running on Fusion) Its interesting how the fastest classic Mac now is an Amiga 600 -) Perhaps more important the Vampire can run it well than you can play it? -) I've played (kind of) marathon in one of my mac emulation videos and it runs just fine.the only weak spot was my game play, I don't know the keys :-) ICab - The Taxi for the Internet: EXTERNAL LINK King's Quest VII gameplay test with the ShapeShifter ( AmigaOS 3.9 BB2 / MacOS 8.1 )Ĭore: V3_3454_x11 (PAL 7,093795 MHz x 11 = 78MHz) RAM is sufficient, but I don't know about the other two. To make a Dungeon Siege like game for the AMIGA, we would need 256 Megs of RAM, a 1 GHz CPU and 3dfx VooDoo card series capabilities. Remember "Dungeon Siege"? That could probably never be made to work on the Apollo Core, because of the need of an x86 (nvidia) video card, but a game LIKE IT could be made for the standalone Apollo Core computer, I do believe. It was effortlessly, I say effortlessly playing a 1995 video game!!!Īlthough, it was a turn based RPG, so those may be really easy to do. WOW!!! Just SUPER TERRIFIC AWESOME YEAH MAN!!!! The Settlers II and Heroes of Might and Magic II Game playing with FUSION (MacOS 8.1): Of note are Star Wars Rebel Assault and Star Wars Dark Forces. Still getting disk errors here and there but I think that is due to how I setup my drive.Īll of this has been installed and most all of it works. Photoshop 4, Illustrator 6, Debabilizer 3, Painter 4, Word 6, Wordperfect, Abuse, Marathon1,2,3, Heart Of China, Abuse, Indiana Jones, Monkey Island 1 and 2 and a few others work well. I redid a partition in 7.5.3 and it's smooth sailing. I run the System 7.0, the Mac diagnostic tool, warcraft2.īut you need to wait the next Silver release However, Shapeshifter is more compatible. We are waiting to speak with Jim Drew to know the reason. So for the time beeing shapeshifter only work with beta cores that is only released to the beta testers and core team.Īt the moment only System 7.5.3 and System 7.5.5 works good with Fusion. As far as i know this opcode will be released at the next core update. The apollo team have implemented a opcode in the apollo core that allows shapeshifter to work at the vampire v2. SIMCity, Warcraft, Warcraft 2, Duke Nuke, etc also run fine. The OS is pretty fast, and many games like: We have MAC OS 7.5 running fine both in FUSION and in SHAPE-SHIFTER. I am using a quadra rom and a mac os system 7.6 system disk that I converted to a hardfile. However booting Fusion results in unresponsive system just before the MacOS system extensions start loading.ĭoes anyone here have optimal configuration settings for Fusion and Vampire? Now am I trying to recreate all this on the Vampire. I tried to get the settings in UAE to match the target specs of the vampire. The PC end of things eventually worked well enough to install photoshop and tons of apps. Whilst waiting for my Vampire to arrive I reacquainted myself wit the rigors of installing a Mac 7.6 install on a UAE steup on the PC.
